Part of Me Is a Woman explores the coexistence of strength and sensitivity, reflecting on femininity. The dress is built from the pattern of a men's military parka, reinterpreted as a lightweight spring-summer garment. This transformation acts as a metaphor: beneath a strong and structured exterior lies a softer, more poetic dimension. The project explores the dialogue between these seemingly opposite qualities and the way they naturally coexist. The silhouette combines functional and feminine elements. Pleats at the hips, an adjustable waist and a versatile neckline introduce softness and movement, while oversized sleeves, large pockets and utilitarian details preserve the garment’s original character. The result is a balance between structure and fluidity, practicality and elegance. Materiality plays a central role in the narrative. The dress combines ten different fabrics, primarily natural linens and cottons, chosen for their honesty, texture and organic character. A mustard technical fabric was introduced as a deliberate contrast, reflecting an appreciation for imperfection and the unexpected. Throughout the garment, fabrics become a language of their own, communicating different facets of femininity. Particular attention was given to texture and surface treatment. A deep back yoke made from hand-fringed sackcloth introduces a raw, almost primitive quality, while striped linens in shades of blue and off-white evoke summer landscapes, beach umbrellas and a sense of freedom. Together, these elements create a garment that moves between strength and delicacy, structure and emotion.
